DAYS after celebrating his 80 birthday Imam Yasin Abu Bakr has died.
Bakr, formerly Lennox Phillip, was the leader of the Jamaat-al-Muslimeen which attempted to overthrow the NAR government on July 27, 1990.
Police reported that Bakr, a diabetic, collapsed at his home at Long Circular Road, St James on Thursday night and was taken to the St James Health Facility where he was declared dead.
His daughter-in-law Kristy Ramnarine-Abu Bakr confirmed his death on Facebook. “My father in law Imam Yasin Abu Bakr has passed away. From Allah we came to Allah we shall return,” she wrote.
His son, Fuad Abu Bakr, posted on his page: “From Allah we came and to Allah we shall return.”

Abu Bakr dies after collapsing at home
Bakr passed away at the St. James infirmary just after 9 pm last night after being rushed there having collapsed at home.
