Stephen KangalStaff and Students ably supported by the parents of the Caroni Presbyterian School recreated the events, using song, dance and skits that led to and culminated in the nativity of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This they staged to enhance the formal opening of their annual Creche and Tree and Candle Lighting function held at the School on Friday morning 25 November 2016.

Miss Candice Mohan initiated the commemorative programme with an expressive liturgical dance that was followed by the ceremonial lighting of colour-coded Advent candles symbolizing hope, love, joy and peace.

Xmas greetings were brought to the school assembly by Mr Charles Mahabir, School Manager and member of the Presbyterian Primary Board of Education as well as by Ms Narina Kalloo, the School’s Guidance Officer and Presiding Elder Mr Larry Kowlessar. Rev Damien Sieunarine delivered the Xmas Message of hope interactively rapping engagingly with the eager responsive students.

I was very pleased to witness the dramatic skills, colourful costuming, stage confidence and enthusiasm exhibited by all students who participated in the programme including the School’s Choir- well-trained and ably conducted by Ms Shasta Sambucharran, long-serving Staff member and rendering Xmas carols and swaying parang music.

The item based on displaying the twelve symbols of Xmas as well as the creative and innovative re-scripting of the Twelve Days of Xmas in which chataigne, roti and tamarind balls held the expanding and repetitive chorus together was outstanding.

As a 1955 graduate of this School I welcome and am pleased with the great strides achieved under the Principal-ship of Mrs Jenny Kowlessar and her devoted Staff members that exceeded all my former expectations.

All present enjoyed a delectable array of refreshments courtesy of many corporate sponsors. Santa has arrived in Caroni riding on a bison bearing gifts to entice the naughty and the nice.

  1. Nativity story, huh Uncle Kangal? Well I’ll be dar….!Can anyone hazard a guess, as to how many homeless folks are wandering our streets ahora ,were murdered due the proliferation of guns – many of which entered our porous borders/under de watchful eyes of T&T unscrupulous Customs Officials(during the past 6years )looking out, solely for de interest of their business pals,- and or ,worst yet, how many kids went to sleep hungry /were abused by closet savages , proclaiming to be parents, during the time it took Uncle SK to write this blog, and yours truly ,to read same?
    Just saying.

Ahhh shucks , and sorry for what would appear to same , to yours truly ,going off on a rant, but here is the bigger question for Uncle SK ,as we ponder the merits of de Nativity, story reenactment- Who was responsible for destroying Best Village, desecrating our National festival Carnival, putting de nail into the coffin of Steel ban Panorama, and finally blowing into smithereens, our once cherished ,local Latino festival ,in Parang?

Merely rhetorical Uncle Kandal, and no need for a response-although I didn’t expect any.
