Stephen KangalMinisters Shamfa Cudjoe and Robinson-Regis labored to point out that the PNM was in charge, albeit ostensibly of T&T now. But it seems to me that having regard to the sudden, unprecedented ideological shift of the PNM in drifting away irretrievably from its traditional ”small-man” ideological moorings initiated by the late founder in 1956 to being sucked at present into the vortex and held securely in the vice of big business, it has to do the bidding of its capitalist campaign financiers members of the urban Chamber of Commerce and the Bankers Association.

T&T is plunged into an air of sadness and deep cataclysmic foreboding. A lamb has been led into the slaughter again even when birth is being celebrated universally.

Stephen KangalThe reason, inter alia, advanced by the Moonilal “Go Kamla” Team including that of Dr. Tim Gopeesingh for the defeat of the PP in the 2015 elections and hence the current lobbying for rejection of Kamla for re-election to the Political Leadership of the UNC, is that the unprecedented, untried and untested Presidential style campaign strategy engineered by Campaign Manager, Rodney Charles, that made Kamla 2015 the focal point and dominated the PP election campaign strategy was flawed and did not resonate with nor did the electorate buy into it. This convenient thesis goes against the dynamics of the elections, is far off the target and would give the stamp of objectivity/ issues-based politics underpinning the final tally.

Stephen KangalThe unfortunate, intentionally political mileage-grabbing, wholly incorrect, barrel-scraping and wholly unnecessary statement made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Senator the Honourable Dennis Moses during the recent Budget debate concluded in the Senate in which he attempted to uphold to national ridicule and blame the former T&T OAS Ambassador, Dr Neil Parsan for seeking employment in the OAS to which he was accredited, is so superficial and annoying because it is reflective of tenour of the other interventions we have had to endure from the current cadre of the young and inexperienced Government ministers who seem to be grasping at elusive straws in the wind for gaining public attention and indulging in the ubiquitous and monotonous blame game.

Youths Take Hillview’s 60th Birthday to the People

Stephen KangalThe continuing celebrations of Hillview College’s 60th Birthday were taken to the streets of the host community of Tunapuna on Saturday 27 June during a 5K fun run organized by an indefatigable Staff Member, Mr. Victorio Hawkins and his group of volunteers. Students from SAGHS, Trinity/Bishop’s, Lakshmi’s and other neighbouring schools joined the students of Hillview in a grand arena-type celebration enjoying great camaraderie among themselves.

Rowley Must Clear the Pre-Debates Decks

Stephen KangalExpelled-from-Parliament MP Dr Keith Rowley and leader of the PNM is under political and moral obligation to clear the decks of those incriminating issues still hanging over him like swords of Damocles before he can be admitted into the Leaders Debates chamber to stand up as an equal to the Prime Minister and leader of the UNC. He must issue an apology to the Speaker of the House and to those MP’s whose reputation has been sullied by his deliberate falsehoods and fabrications.

Stephen KangalThis proposal of the CIC Debates Commission to host two Leaders Debates involving the PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar and PNM leader, Dr Keith Rowley is clearly indicative of the extent to which the Chamber is fossilized in and slave to the old paradigm and the old politics or order championing talk-talk and more talk. It is this continuing focus on and slavish obeisance to artificial talk that has hindered the rapid development of T&T. We continue to elect eye and ear-servants galore.
