Cry blood, my beloved country

By Raffique Shah July 07, 2012 RARELY do I address the same topic for two consecutive weeks, but I feel compelled, in highly unusual circumstances, to alert the nation to the misadventures of National Security Minister Jack Warner. Last week, like many of my columnist colleagues, I took Warner to task over the way he … Continue reading Cry blood, my beloved country

Jack’s lawlessness and Corruptibility

By Dr. Selwyn R. Cudjoe July 03, 2012 Life in T&T is very funny business. Yo know way yo going; yo don’t know where yo’ likely to reach. No charges made, no apologies offered … Continue reading Jack’s lawlessness and Corruptibility

Return of Sheriff Lobo

By Raffique Shah July 01, 2012 WHAT more must Jack Warner do to prove that he is unfit to be this country’s Minister of National Security? Declare war on Tobago or Venezuela or Barbados? By Raffique Shah May 27, 2012 FOR all our boasts about technological advancements we have achieved—”4G smart phones”, “wifi hotspots”, GPS in vehicles and on phones—it is amazing how we remain mired in backwardness when it comes to dealing with fundamental problems. The classic is carnage on the nation’s roads. Last Sunday’s horrendous crash that … Continue reading Backward ever, forward never

Get it Right Before You Write on TT’s Maritime Boundaries

By Stephen Kangal May 01, 2012 Let me categorically state that the printed media especially since 2004 when the TT/Barbados boundary dispute first erupted and counting, has never gotten it right in reporting about our very specialized maritime boundaries matter. They have done a great disservice to T&T. I cannot identify any single journalist past … Continue reading Get it Right Before You Write on TT’s Maritime Boundaries

Manning, The Genius

By Dr. Selwyn R. Cudjoe April 18, 2012 I never thought that Patrick Manning was such a genius and soothsayer, especially when he told us that one could turn ordinary CEPEP managers into captains of national and international industries; that, in fact, they could run corporations worth billions of dollars without flinching; and all that … Continue reading Manning, The Genius
